Silvia Gonzalez
Silvia was born and raised in Mexico. She fulfilled her father’s dream and attained a degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She has more than 15 years of teaching experience with students of all ages and has worked as a school coordinator and director for Spanish programs.
Silvia believes that learning Spanish is much more than drills and repetitive practice. It is also about understanding and appreciating the culture: cooking, the arts, traditions and history. She brings the soul, spirit and magic of the Spanish speaking world to her classes, and with the passion she inspires, she enables her students to be active and successful learners.
Samantha Campos
Samantha was born and raised in the US, with deep roots in Mexican culture. Being second generation, she spent most summers and vacations going back to her mother’s native land and experiencing the language, culture and cuisine. She has also studied psychology and child development at Cal State East Bay which she uses to further develop her relationship with the youth as well as implement her studies with teaching. At Cal State East Bay she put these learnings in practice in her work at the tutoring center where she has worked for 4 years. She also volunteered in a bilingual kids club for 5 years learning from different Latin cultures and teaching about her own Mexican heritage.
Samantha truly believes that being diverse in culture is what makes her and allows her to better understand others. By helping others better understand her culture and Spanish language through activities and practice is what she believes she can make a difference. She believes it’s never too late to begin the learning journey and encourages people to get in touch with the Spanish language and culture.
